We are offiically just six weeks away from the biggest football charity gala in Houston’s history! Friday June 16th is the day the Houston football world will finally hear the stories of two of the game’s respected legends for their clubs. Chelsea fans will welcome club legend Bobby Tambling as Manchester United fans welcome Norman Whiteside. Both players in their era were big names for both clubs, and their stories are a must hear for fans of not just both clubs but of the beautiful game.
The Bayou City Blues and Houston Red Army came together to organize the event which will raise funds for Kick Cancer, a pediatric cancer fund which brings the game of soccer to patients who love the game. The gala will consist of a three course meal followed by guest speakers Glenn Davis of ESPN Radio, Tom Clare of the Houston Red Army, and Jesus Martinez of the Bayou City Blues.
The evening will conclude with the main speakers of the evening (Tambling and Whiteside) as well as an auction of several memoribilia from both Chelsea and Manchester United.
Tickets are still available as well as discounted hotel rooms at the gala venue, The Doubletree Hotel in Downtown Houston. If you are unable to attend you can still become a sponsor where your donation will also go directly to the charity.
If interested reach out to Jesus Martinez for further details and payment info. Below you’ll also find a link to book your room if you wish to stay the night at the hotel. We look forward to seeing you there! Remember this isn’t just a Chelsea and Manchester United event. This event for the all who love the beautiful game, but most importantly is to help find a cure for pediatric cancer. This will be the first of many more to come as each year passes by so that the Houston soccer community can come together regardless of club affiliation.
